TENETS OF FAITH
1. God
We believe in one trinitarian God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, creator of all things, who alone is to be worshiped.
We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God, was conceived of the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, was crucified, died, buried, and resurrected on the third day. He ascended, is now seated at the right hand of God the Father, and is true God and true man.
We believe in the personal, consubstantial Holy Spirit, that dwells in and transforms the individual upon believing.
Isaiah 7:14; 9:6; Matthew 28:19; Luke 1:26-35; John 1:14-18; 2 Corinthians 13:14
2. Scripture
We believe the Bible to be the inspired Word of God, a unified narrative pointing to King Jesus the Christ, and our rule of faith and conduct.
1 Corinthians 2:13; 2 Timothy 3:16
3. Salvation
We believe in the rescuing from sin and death by grace through repentance and faith in the perfect and sufficient work of the cross at Calvary, by which we obtain remission of sins.
Romans 5:1,11; Ephesians 2:8,9; Hebrews 9:12,22
4. Kingdom of God
We believe in the personal, visible return of the Lord Jesus Christ. He will return to judge the living and the dead in the age to come, and his kingdom will have no end.
We believe the kingdom came in the body and works of King Jesus the Christ, and that this kingdom was established and has become accessible through his death and resurrection.
We anticipate the resurrection of the dead and new creation in the world to come.
John 5:24; 3:16; 14:2-3; Mark 9:43-48; 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18; 2 Thessalonians 1:9; Revelation 20:10-15
5. The Church
We believe that there is one true ecumenical, catholic church, called to unity, made up of believers, composed of many local churches in given localities. These churches are under the sovereign headship of the Lord, Jesus Christ, exercising autonomous government under him, administering all its local affairs and ministry, as well as the propagation of the Gospel.
We believe believers of Jesus as King are called to live life together as the salt and light of the Earth, reflecting the truth and love of God to the world together.
We believe the church is the body of Christ, the habitation of God through the Spirit, and each believer is an integral
functioning member. The church community is a spiritual family composed of sons and daughters of God.
Matthew 16:18; 18:15-20; Acts 15:22; Ephesians 2:21-22; 3:16
6. Sacraments and lifestyle
We believe in personal and corporate sanctification through the reading of scripture and the practice of the sacraments, by the Holy Spirit.
We believe in the sacrament of baptism, in accordance with Jesus’ command, as an important, immediate declaration of the lordship of Jesus Christ, that seals our identity as members of the body of Christ.
We believe in the sacrament of the Eucharist as the participation of the Lord's supper, in which we take the body and bread of Christ, in a renewing, unifying act of anticipation of the kingdom.
We believe in the baptism with the Holy Spirit, in the gifts of the Spirit, and the evidence of the fruit of the Spirit. We believe that all are available to believers.
We believe in intensive world-evangelization and missionary work in accordance with the great commission.
We believe in the continual pursuit of Christlikeness, and in growing Christ in us, through reading the scripture, living in community, practicing spiritual disciplines, worshiping and obeying God, and in direction from the Holy Spirit.
Matthew 28:19; Acts 2:4-36; 19:1-6; 2 Corinthians 6:14; 7:1; 12-14; Ephesians 5:18
